Thanks to the WD My Cloud, you always have your data within reach. However, if this is not displayed on the network, this indicates a network error. In this practical tip, we will tell you what you can do about it.
WD My Cloud is not showing on the network - what to do?
- In some cases, a firewall or an antivirus program can block the connection to the My Cloud so that it is no longer displayed. Switch off both services as a test.
- If you can then see your My Cloud on the network, we will show you how to add an exception in the firewall and how to release the IP in the antivirus program.
- Alternatively, you can connect a LAN cable to the cloud. Then connect this cable to your PC and see if you can then establish a connection.
- If this attempt also fails, you should reset the My Cloud. To do this, press and hold the reset switch on the back of the device for about 5 seconds.
- Especially in Windows 10, you should make sure that you are on a public network. Also check whether the "Find devices and content" switch is set to "On" under "System settings"> "Network and Internet"> "Ethernet"> "Advanced options".
- You may also have to update the My Cloud to the latest company software first so that the problem can be solved.
