With the WD My Cloud, you have convenient storage for your home network. This practical tip shows you how to set up access via Explorer from Windows 7.
Set up WD My Cloud as a network drive in Explorer
After you connect and set up WD My Cloud, the storage on the network is immediately available. In Windows Explorer you can go to individual folders on the cloud and set them as a drive for quick access.
- Open the existing directory structure in Explorer by clicking on "Network" and click on "WD My Cloud" to see the folders and contents you have created.
- Right-click the folder for which you want to set a drive in Explorer. In the context menu, click on the "Map network drive" entry.
- In the next window, select a drive letter.
- Check "Re-establish connection at login". Finally, confirm your entries by clicking the "Done" button.
- Click the arrow in front of the entry "Computer" or in Windows 10 on "This PC". Now the drive you just created is permanently available.
Step 1: open the network
Open the WD My Cloud in Explorer.
Step 2: select folder
Right-click on the folder to connect the drive and select "Map network drive".
Step 3: Allocate and connect drive letters
Select a free drive letter.
Step 4: connect automatically
Check the box so that the connection is established automatically every time you restart.
