The difference between "so far" and "so far" is minimal in terms of spelling. However, the difference in meaning is great. We explain exactly what it consists of below.
When to use "so far"
Write "as far as" it is a conjunction, also called a verb. You can recognize conjunctions by the fact that they link parts of sentences such as main and subordinate clauses.
- To be sure, try replacing "as far" in your sentence with one of the following synonyms. If the meaning remains unchanged, the spelling "so far" is correct.
- Example "as far" in the sense of "to the extent as": The students, as far as I know them, are very hard-working. - The students, to the extent that I know them, are very hard-working.
- Example "as far" in the sense of "after what": As far as I know, apples are healthy. - From what I know, apples are healthy.
In these cases "so far" is correct
If the sentence does not require a conjunction, you can write "so far" with a clear conscience. Here some examples:
