It is not without reason that wheat grass has a reputation as a superfood. It contains a lot of essential nutrients that can have a positive effect on your health:
- Wheatgrass is the green stalk of wheat with no ears. These are harvested and then mostly dried and ground. Because fresh wheat grass is perishable and would therefore not be for sale.
- This wheatgrass powder actually contains a lot of vitamins: 100 grams contain almost the full daily dose of vitamin C and it is also rich in vitamin E, which is important for healthy skin. In addition, it is said to be rich in B vitamins.
- Especially vitamin B12, which is extremely important for vegetarians and vegans, is contained in wheat grass. Around 100 percent of the daily dose can be found in 100 grams. Vitamin B6 and B2, vitamin A and folic acid are also found in large quantities in wheat grass.
- However, you should note that this information refers to 100 grams of the powder, an amount that you are unlikely to consume per day. In addition, the actual nutrient quantities in wheat grass are very variable, since the area of cultivation and the soil quality are very important.
Superfood Wheatgrass - how to use it
Since the wheat grass is usually offered in powder form, it can be taken in a variety of forms:
- Of course, you can easily integrate the wheatgrass into your diet as an additional source of nutrients, but it can also be used specifically for certain areas of application.
- For example, the wheat grass is said to strengthen the immune system. The combination of vitamins and trace elements can boost your immune system, especially in winter. Even with a cold, you can use it to feel fit again more quickly.
- The wheat grass is also said to be able to lower high cholesterol. However, you should note that regular use and a long period of time are required. Inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis can also be alleviated.
- But wheatgrass can do even more: Since it is also rich in iron, it can be integrated into the diet every day to prevent iron deficiency. In addition, it can be used ideally for a detox cure. This means that the body can be detoxified using wheatgrass.
- You can take the wheat grass in a variety of ways. For example, make a wheatgrass juice with the powder and water or integrate it into a smoothie. You can also stir the powder into your muesli or drinks. The superfood is now also available in capsule form.
