What Bluetooth version does my Mac have? All information
The question "Which Bluetooth version does my Mac have?" can be important in different scenarios, for example to check existing devices for compatibility. But you also need the existing Bluetooth version to find out whether certain features are available to you. We'll show you how to get your Mac's data quickly and easily.
Mac: System report shows information about Bluetooth version
The easiest way to find out the Bluetooth version of your Mac is via the system report. This is an integrated program in OS X that reveals the most important data about your Mac:
- Click the small Apple icon in the top left corner of the screen. Choose "About This Mac".
- In the following window, select the "System report" tab.
- Now you can select the "Bluetooth" tab in the "Hardware" category.
- In the following window look for the line "LMP version". This shows which Bluetooth version is installed in your Mac (see picture).
- If "0x6" is specified as the version, your Mac supports the energy-saving Bluetooth 4.0 standard. If not, it is an older version of Bluetooth, most likely Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.
