Android supports different file systems depending on the version and smartphone. We'll show you what they are.
Android: Which file systems are supported?
- External devices such as USB sticks or hard drives can be connected to your Android device with the formats FAT, FAT32 and NTFS.
- Under Android, SD cards require the FAT, FAT32 or ext2 file system. Newer Android smartphones may also support ext3 and ext4.
- Otherwise you can retrofit the support of ext3, ext4 or the file system exFAT by a root.
