What hard drive do I have? Here's how to find out
If you want to find out which hard drive is in your computer, you have several options. In this article we show you how it's done.
Variant 1: Find out the name of the hard drive
- Press the [Windows] and [R] keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "devmgmt.msc" here and confirm with "OK". Then the device manager starts.
- If you click on the "Drives" category below, all installed hard drives will be displayed.
- You can type in the name here and search via Google if necessary.
Variant 2: Find out information about the hard drive
- If you not only need the name of the hard disk, but are also interested in the performance and other values, you need additional software. The free tool Speccy helps here.
- Download and start Speccy. If you switch to the "Storage" category on the left, you will find a lot of information about the hard disk here. Even the temperature is read out here.
