Which graphics card do I have? Find out with DirectX Diagnostics. The easiest way to open the tool is via the "Run" dialog.
Switch to "Display" in the diagnostic program to read out the graphics card.
Of course, you can unscrew your PC and see which graphics card is installed. It is easier with the Windows board resources. This even works in different ways. First, we will show you how to use the DirectX diagnostic program to find out which graphics card you have.
- Windows has been delivered with DirectX as standard for some versions. It also includes a kind of analysis software that provides information on graphics and sound.
- You can call up the tool very easily: To do this, press the key combination [Windows] + [R]. Enter "dxdiag" in the next window and confirm with [Enter].
- In the Diagnostic Tool, click the "Display" tab. In addition to the name of the graphics card, you will also find further information on the graphics memory, resolution and much more.
- If you see several tabs with the name "Display", you have either installed several monitors or different graphics cards. The latter is often the case if, in addition to an additional graphics card, you also have a small onboard graphics card that is installed on the mainboard.
Read the graphics card in the device manager
Another way to find out which graphics card you have is through Device Manager. Here you can not only read out the name of the hardware, but also get information about the installed drivers.
- First, right-click the Windows icon in the lower left of your taskbar.
- Click "Device Manager" to open it.
- Now double-click the "Graphics Cards" entry so that the menu folds out.
- Here you can already see which graphics card is installed in your computer. For more details, right click on the graphics card and select "Properties".
- In the properties you can read out the name, the storage location and the driver version of the graphics card. You can also search for more current drivers.
