The question of which browser you have on your computer can be answered very easily. The software manufacturers mark their programs with distinctive characters. Make sure you can see at a glance which web browser it is.
How to find out which browser you have on your computer
There are several ways to find out which browser you have on your computer. For example, all browsers are adorned with a distinctive icon to identify them. You also get a standard browser with Windows and Mac.
- If you have a Windows computer, you will find the Microsoft Edge browser on it by default. On old versions of Windows it is Internet Explorer. Similarly, the Apple Safari browser is installed on the Mac by default. If you have not installed an additional browser yourself, the question about the browser is probably already answered.
- You can also recognize browsers by the respective icon: Edge adorns the dynamic blue "e", while Safari comes along with a compass. The name of the browser is usually immediately below.
- As soon as you have opened the browser, you will find further information. This includes the name of the browser used as well as the version. Depending on the browser, you will find the information in different places. On this occasion, you should also call the Update option.
- Safari Browser: Click on Safari in the menu bar and go to the "About Safari" option.
- Edge Browser: Select the "Settings" in the menu - three dots at the top right. If you scroll all the way down, you will see information next to the name of the browser, such as the version used. If you still have Internet Explorer, go to "Help" in the menu - gear wheel at the top right.

All browsers have distinctive icons with which you can easily identify the programs. If you see a fox wrapped around the globe, it is, for example, the Firefox browser. Decorate the browser with a colorful, three-part circle, work with Chrome. Opera, on the other hand, comes with a modest red O. To get more information about the browser, do the following:
- Firefox for Windows: In the menu - three lines at the top right - click on the "About Firefox" option.
- Firefox for Mac: Click on Firefox in the menu bar and then on the "About Firefox" option.
- Chrome for Windows: In the menu - three dots at the top right - click on "Help" and then on "About Google".
- Chrome for Mac: Click Chrome in the menu bar, then click "About Google Chrome".
- Opera for Windows: In the menu - far left, the O - go to "Help" and then to "About Opera".
- Opera for Mac: Click on Opera in the menu bar, then on "Help" and then on "About Opera".
