If you would like to conclude a mobile phone contract with McSIM, you should first find out about the coverage and quality of the network. We clarify it.
How good is the McSIM network?
McSIM offers several tariffs on its website. The LTE tariffs and the LTE mini tariffs use the O2 network. The savings and student tariffs use the Vodafone network.
- In the 2015 CHIP network test, Vodafone came in second behind Telekom. Vodafone scored particularly well thanks to the most extensive LTE network in Germany. At McSIM you will not notice this, the LTE tariffs are only available from O2.
- Vodafone was also convincing in the areas of telephony and mobile surfing. On average, Vodafone comes second in all measurements. Vodafone ends up behind O2 only when calling in the country.
McSIM: network coverage and network quality at O2
- O2 took third place in the CHIP network test, behind Vodafone and ahead of E-Plus. O2 customers benefit considerably from the merger of O2 and E-Plus. The expansion of the LTE network is progressing steadily.
- The fusion of the two networks is currently limited to the UMTS connection for mobile surfing. If the O2 network is overloaded or can only be reached with a weak signal, the system switches to the E-Plus network if available. This results in higher network coverage for O2 customers.
- The voice quality and the speed with which calls are set up still leave something to be desired at O2 this year. The speed of the mobile data connection only ranks third, but there are hardly any failures, interruptions or delays.
