Which network does Unitymedia use mobile? Network coverage quality
Unitymedia is known as a cable provider, even less as a provider of smartphone tariffs. We will tell you in which mobile network you are calling from the Cologne company.
The Unitymedia mobile network
If you conclude a mobile phone contract with Unitymedia Mobil, use the Telefónica e-network. This means that you make calls on the o2 network.
- In large cities such as Cologne in particular, you should not have any problems with the o2 network. Reception is usually very good in metropolitan areas. However, the further you move away from the metropolitan areas and come to the rural areas, the worse the connection in the o2 network often becomes.
- Telefónica wants to solve this problem with UMTS roaming. Since e-Plus is now also part of the mobile operator, customers' cell phones should automatically log into the better e-network. However, the changeover has only started in April 2015 and will take some time.
- In general, it can be said that in larger cities with a Unitymedia smartphone tariff, you are unlikely to have any network problems. In rural areas, however, you are better served with a mobile phone tariff in the D network.
- Before deciding on a new mobile tariff at Unitymedia, you should therefore individually check the network coverage and quality of the mobile network in your area.
In our large cell phone network test 2015 you will also find the coverage and quality of the various networks across Germany.
