# Hide VALUE errors in Excel - Here's how it works
If you are using Excel, you may encounter the "#value" error. In the meantime, you can hide the error - with a little trick. We show you in our instructions how this works.
Hide error message "#value" in Excel
Since version 2007 Excel has been offering the formula "IF ERROR". With this you can quickly hide the entire error or display an individual text instead of the error message:
- The function in Excel looks like this: = IFERROR (value; value_falls_error).
- To build the formula: = IFERROR (your formula; the value you want to see when an error is issued)
- Now expand your formula by the corresponding conditions.
- To completely hide the error message #value, use quotation marks: = IFERROR (your formula; ““)
- In the same way you can also receive the error messages # DIV / 0 !, #NV, #NAME ?, #NULL !, #ZAHL! and #REFERENCE! hide.
- Tip: If you want a text as output, always put it in quotation marks. You can enter numbers without quotes.
