The WEtell mobile phone tariff became known with its goal of being a sustainable mobile operator. This sustainability prevails through corporate management, the tariff and data protection. Read everything you should know about it here.
The sustainable mobile operator WEtell
The start-up consists of three young founders and the goal of offering their customers a sustainable mobile tariff. That means that maximum data protection, 100% renewable energies, transparency and charitable management are important.
- Sustainability at WEtell means that all business activities are supplied with 100% renewable energy. Everyday office life is designed to be environmentally friendly, business trips and journeys are undertaken by train and bicycle.
- Business partners such as network providers, agencies and IT administration are encouraged to work more environmentally consciously.
- In order to compensate for the CO2 emissions caused by the necessary infrastructure with Telekom and other existing infrastructures, WEtell invests in renewable energies.
- Together with the Schönau Electricity Works (EWS), WETell is developing a concept for climate-friendly mobile communications. For example, new renewable energy systems are to be built that produce green electricity. This is intended to eliminate fossil fuels from the German grid.
- In addition, WEtell would like to transparently disclose its emissions and offset the costs of the resulting environmental pollution.
- The company is still in the starting blocks and is financed through crowdfunding. Tariffs are conceivable, but cannot yet be used.
The tariffs at WEtell
WEtell offers three different tariffs. Each tariff can be canceled monthly, there are no hidden costs.
- The available network is the D network. EU roaming is included and free number transfer is also possible.
- The "ultra short" tariff with 300 minutes, 100 SMS and 1GB data 3G (max. 25 Mbit / s) costs 15 € per month. The "medium wave" with an Allnet Flat and 3G data LTE50 (50 Mbit / s) is 30 € per month. "Superfunk" also with Allnetflat but with 8G data LTE50 (50 Mbit / s) costs 40 € per month.
- 100% data protection here means that after the cell phone bill has been paid, call data is deleted that would otherwise be saved for commercial use by other cell phone providers. However, the company must comply with the requirements of the legislator for storing and using the data.
There are hidden costs not only through the mobile operator. Mobile phone bills can quickly become more expensive through third-party providers of apps and subscriptions. Read more about this in our next practical tip.
