There are alternatives to the WeTransfer upload service like sand by the sea. In this practical tip, we present the five best.
First alternative to WeTransfer: Wikisend
As the first of our five alternatives to WeTransfer, Wikisend offers a service that is as simple as it is secure:
- You can access the Wikisend user interface from your browser. It is simple: Select the file on your computer that you want to upload and click on "Upload File". There are no annoying advertisements and complicated additional services.
- Wikisend is ideal for smaller data uploads. You can upload up to 100 MB per upload. In addition, you can protect your upload with a password and enter a description of the download.
- You can individually set the validity of your uploads from 24 hours to 90 days. Uploads that are valid for up to seven days are preferred when downloading and receive a higher download speed.
Upload files to sendanywhere
If you are looking for a reliable alternative to WeTransfer, especially for professional purposes, sendanywhere could be of interest to you. The hoster offers a little more flexibility and more storage space and is also free.
- Unlike WeTransfer, you can use Sendanywhere both via the browser and in your own applications, such as on Mac, Windows, Android or iOS.
- With sendanywhere you can either send files as "code" or share them as a "share link".
- A code is a one-time download intended for one person, which can be passed on to the recipient via a 6-digit number code or a QR code. The recipient can then enter the code on the sendanywhere website and start the download.
- If, on the other hand, you want to share files with several people, you can install the desktop version or the Google Chrome plug-in and have a share link created for your upload. You can then share it with any number of people.
- With sendanywhere, a code is only valid for 10 minutes and only one recipient. If the recipient does not manage to start the download within this time, the file must be uploaded again. A share link, on the other hand, is valid for 48 hours and can be used by several people.
- Sendanywhere outperforms the competition when it comes to upload restrictions: 1GB are allowed by default via the upload with the browser. However, you can upload as many files as you like via the desktop version and the Google Chrome plugin. Sendanywhere limits you neither in the number of files nor in the file size.
