Use WhatsApp on Mac OS - so it'll work
First, download and install the free WhatsApp version for Mac.
- A QR code is displayed in the program when it is started for the first time. This allows you to connect the tool to your smartphone.
- To do this, open WhatsApp on your smartphone and tap on the three horizontal dots.
- Tap on "WhatsApp Web" and scan the QR code displayed. You can then chat on Mac OS.
Alternative: Use WhatsApp on Mac with an emulator
As an alternative to the Mac app, you can also start WhatsApp using an emulator. Here you need a valid phone number. This method is more complicated and was primarily used when there was no WhatsApp application for Mac.
- Download the free "BlueStacks" program from the CHIP download portal and install it. This program allows you to simulate apps.
- Then open the program, click on the Facebook or Twitter icon and log in.
- Search for any link here and click on it. This will open the browser.
- Enter the address "//whatsapp.com/android" in this and confirm with [Enter].
- Download the latest version of the app and allow the installation with "OK".
- Now you only have to verify your phone number and after successful confirmation you can use WhatsApp on Mac.
Alternative: WhatsApp Web: use Messenger in the browser
As an alternative, you can finally use WhatsApp Web via the Google Chrome browser. Unfortunately, WhatsApp Web is currently only available in Chrome, but other browsers are expected to follow soon.
- First, check if you have the latest version of WhatsApp installed. This guide will help you do this.
- Open WhatsApp Web in your Chrome browser and then start the WhatsApp app on your smartphone. Note: WhatsApp Web is not compatible with iOS devices.
- In the WhatsApp settings, select "WhatsApp Web" and then scan the QR code with the camera, which is displayed on WhatsApp Web. After your smartphone has connected to your PC, you can start.
- With WhatsApp Web you can now make voice recordings via your microphone, send photos and videos and of course send and receive messages. Everything you do in WhatsApp Web is also synchronized with WhatsApp.
- Note: In order to get the most out of WhatsApp Web, your smartphone should be connected to a WiFi network. WhatsApp Web only works if your smartphone is connected to the Internet.
