WhatsApp: "Backup could not be completed"
In order to be able to create a WhatsApp backup in the "Google Drive" cloud storage, you have to meet a few requirements.
- First of all, your Google account must be activated and logged in on your smartphone.
- The latest version of Google Play services must also be installed.
- In addition, the storage space on your smartphone and on Google Drive must not be exhausted.
- It can also cause problems when you try to back up using a mobile data connection, as this is sometimes much slower than stationary WLAN stations.
- If you do not meet one of these requirements, it can quickly occur that the error message mentioned occurs.

- Add your Google account to your smartphone. To do this, open the settings, navigate to the "Accounts" entry and then go to "Add account". Then simply follow the instructions on your smartphone.
- If you don't have enough storage space on your smartphone or in Google Drive storage, you have to delete files to ensure sufficient storage. Google Drive also offers the option of purchasing additional storage space.
- If you identify a network problem, either wait for the backup to connect to a WLAN network again or change the network.
- Otherwise, it may be helpful to reconfigure the backup.
- To do this, open WhastApp, tap the menu button, select "Settings", "Chats" and then "Chat Backup".
- Here you can now make any settings relating to the backup, such as the frequency of the backup, the Google account on which the backup is stored or whether all media should be backed up.
- Under "Backup via" you can also select that backups are only made via WLAN, for example.
