WhatsApp: Restrict permissions - how it works
If you want to restrict WhatsApp's permissions, this simply works in the settings. We'll show you how it works.
WhatsApp: Restrict permissions
- To restrict the permissions of applications such as WhatsApp, you need the SRT AppGuard app.
- With the free trial version, you can restrict the total rights of four apps.
- Since Google is reluctant to see the app, it is not offered in the Play Store. You can download the APK file from the link above and install it manually. We show you how this works in the practical tip Android Apps: Install APK without Google Play Store.
- Note: If you want to withdraw individual authorizations from WhatsApp, AppGuard will reinstall them. You should back up important WhatsApp content beforehand.
SRT AppGuard: Restrict WhatsApp permissions
- Start the app and select the "WhatsApp" application under the "Monitor new app" category.
- Tap the "Monitor" button above and confirm the prompt that appears to uninstall WhatsApp.
- If this does not happen directly, you will be redirected to the settings. Here you must first activate the "Unknown sources" option.
- You can then deactivate the individual authorizations in AppGuard, such as access to the location.
- Note: You must not switch off the authorizations "Deactivate hibernation", "Complete Internet access", "Read contact data" and "Read phone status and ID". WhatsApp cannot run without the permissions.
