Delete WhatsApp data - that's how it's done
When using WhatsApp, a lot of data is collected on the smartphone. This practical tip explains how to delete them.
Delete data directly in WhatsApp
In WhatsApp you can delete media data for every single chat. The disadvantage: Not all media data can be removed at once. Note: This practical tip was tested with WhatsApp version 2.11.426 on a Nexus 5 with Android 4.4.4.
- Call up any chat.
- Tap the menu icon in the top right corner and select "Media".
- Mark the files with a long tap on the individual elements.
- Then tap the trash can icon to delete it.
Delete data in the file manager
On the Android smartphone, you can also delete your WhatsApp media using a file explorer. The ES File Explorer is suitable for this.
- Find the WhatsApp folder in the file directory.
- Then open the media folder.
- Here you can open different folders with audio, image and video files.
- Select the objects to be deleted with a long tap and tap on "Delete" in the lower menu bar.
- By the way: on the Android smartphone, you can remove all chat histories and settings with a tap on "Clear data" via the application manager.
