WhatsApp: Mute individual chat - so it'll work
With the latest Whatsapp update for Android and iOS, you can mute a single chat. Before that, it was already possible to mute a group chat. Whatsapp has now extended this to all chats.
Android: Mute individual WhatsApp chat
- Open the relevant WhatsApp chat and tap on the person's name.
- A new window opens with the contact overview. Under the status you will find the "Notifications" area.
- Find the "Mute" item in this area and move the control to the other side.
- You can now choose between 8 hours, a week and a year. You can also display or hide notifications.
- Tip: If you want to receive notifications again later, just follow the steps again.
iOS: How to mute WhatsApp chat on iPhone
Initially, mute was only possible on Android, now the function is also available for iPhone users. If you already have the latest update, you can do the following:
- Call up the overview of all WhatsApp chats.
- Swipe the chat you want to the left.
- Click "More" and then "Silent".
- Now select how long you want to mute the chat. This is also possible for the iOS version for 8 hours, a week or a whole year.
- Tip: Follow the steps again to turn the sound back on.
