WhatsApp: Deactivate read status (blue tick)
In WhatsApp, two blue ticks indicate whether the message has already been read. However, many users want to deactivate this status on their iPhone or Android smartphone - we will show you what you have to do for it.
WhatsApp: Deactivate blue ticks on the iPhone
iPhone users have been able to deactivate the read status since WhatsApp version 2.12.1. Read here how to get rid of the blue hooks.
- Open your WhatsApp settings (gear icon in the lower right corner) and select the menu item "Account".
- Here you tap on "Data protection" and look for the item "Read confirmation".
- Slide the slider to the left to disable the blue ticks. Note that the blue ticks are still displayed in group chats.
Turn off read status for Android smartphones
