A long-awaited function brings with it a new WhatsApp update: Group calls are now possible, both for audio and for video telephony. In this article we show you how you can use the new feature and what you need for it.
WhatsApp: Start group calls - you need that
Not every WhatsApp user in the group can make calls yet.
- To be able to access the function at all, you must first download the current WhatsApp beta version for Android. You can find them in our download area.
- It is not certain whether you can actually start group calls. The function is not yet activated for all users.
- If it works, you can currently bring another person to the receiver with an audio telephony to your conversation partner. Four people can make video calls, so you can bring two more people into the phone group.
- If you would like to become an official WhatsApp beta tester, we will show you how in a different practical tip.
- In WhatsApp, open the chat with the person you want to call.
- Now start a video or audio call with that person.
- If the connection is established, you will see whether you can invite other people to the conversation. You can see from the plus symbol in the top right whether you can add another contact.
- If you tap this plus symbol, you can add another person to your group call from your contacts.
