WhatsApp cannot establish a connection - what to do?
If WhatsApp cannot establish a connection to the Internet, this is usually due to a faulty connection. We'll show you how to solve the problem.
WhatsApp no longer establishes a connection
- Switch the connection between WLAN and the mobile data network. If the problem no longer occurs after the change, it is not due to WhatsApp. You should also force a renewed network search.
- Open any website in the browser to test the general connection on the smartphone. If you cannot access any websites, there is a problem with the Internet - and not with WhatsApp.
- If you restart the device, errors in the buffer are deleted. In some cases, this can work small miracles.

- Android: Make sure that the "Limit background data" function (accessed via menu key) is not activated under Settings> Data consumption.
- If the problem persists, it is probably server problems with WhatsApp. You can find more information about current error messages on the website AlleSt Stör.de.
- As a last step, you can delete WhatsApp and then reinstall it. Before doing so, however, you should back up WhatsApp.
