WhatsApp cannot be installed - what to do?
If WhatsApp cannot be installed, it is usually due to rather trivial causes. We'll explain what the culprit can be and how to fix it.
Can't install WhatsApp? - mostly already!
To ensure that you install WhatsApp correctly, you should follow our instructions. If that doesn't work, check the following points.
- System update: Make sure you are using the latest version of your operating system. If necessary, you should therefore update iOS or carry out a software update on Android.
- Storage: Check whether you have enough free storage space on your phone to install WhatsApp. If not, you need to clean up your iPhone or free up space on Android.
- Old WhatsApp version: You may have installed an older version of WhatsApp that prevents a new installation. Check that and remove WhatsApp from your iPhone or Android smartphone. Tip: Save your chat history first so as not to lose it.
- SIM card: To use WhatsApp, a SIM card must be inserted in the cell phone. Make sure the SIM is recognized correctly.
- Android: As an Android user, you can also use a little trick and install apps using an APK file. You can find the latest WhatsApp version as an APK in our download portal.
