WhatsApp expires - what to do?
When the free Whatsapp annual subscription expires, you will be asked to renew your account for a fee. For whom WhatsApp is now free and who will continue to be asked to checkout, we show you in this practical tip.
Since 2016: WhatsApp never expires
- WhatsApp has been free for everyone since the beginning of 2016. Previously, 89 cents had been requested by most users after the first year. Otherwise WhatsApp could no longer be used.
- This has been over for a long time now. WhatsApp will never expire again and therefore never needs to be renewed. However, fraudsters have found a profitable business here.
- There are always messages and links sent to WhatsApp, in which the expiry of your own WhatsApp version is announced. If you do not pay the desired amount, the fraudsters threaten to block your account. In the following special article on the WhatsApp rip-off you will find more information about this stitch.
- Often the fraudsters are not interested in the small amounts of money. Your personal data such as the credit card number are much more interesting. If you have provided such data, you should block the credit card immediately. If the message comes from a cell phone number with a German area code, it also makes sense to display it.
