WhatsApp: Connect multiple chat histories
With WhatsApp, you can connect multiple chat histories with just a few simple steps. If you reinstall WhatsApp on another smartphone, you can quickly load the chats onto your phone.
Connect chat histories on Android
- Open WhatsApp, click the menu button and select "Settings".
- Select "Backup Chat History" (WhatsApp backs up your messages).
- To export to a new cell phone, go to the directory of your SD card via Windows Explorer. Copy the "WhatsApp" file to the memory of your new smartphone. You can, for example, cache the file on your PC and then save it in the memory of your new smartphone.
- If you now install WhatsApp on your new smartphone, the backup file will be retrieved automatically. Just confirm that you want to restore the backup.
Connect chat histories on iPhone
- On iOS you can find the backup function via "Settings"> "Chat backup"> "Create backup now". Then proceed as in the Android instructions.
- If you have activated iCloud, your WhatsApp chats will be saved in your cloud. When a new iPhone is activated, the chat histories are automatically integrated.
