Send WhatsApp message to all contacts - how it works
In this practical tip we will show you how you can send a message to all your contacts in WhatsApp.
WhatsApp broadcast list on Android: send message to all contacts
A broadcast list is a list of selected contacts. It allows you to send a message to several or all of your contacts. We show you here and in the picture gallery how you use the service:
- Open WhatsApp.
- Select the menu and go to "New Broadcast".
- Click "+" to add your contacts to the broadcast list.
- In the next dialog, check all of your contacts and take "Done".
- In the next step, give the broadcast a name and click on "Create".
- WhatsApp then opens a new chat window with your broadcast list. You can now send a message to all of your contacts.
- Difference to group chat: Your contacts receive a normal message from you. If they reply, the reply will only be sent to you and not to the other members of the broadcast list.
WhatsApp: Set up broadcast list on iPhone
- Open WhatsApp.
- Tap on "Chats" and "Broadcast Lists" (top left).
- Select "New List" at the bottom.
- Tap the plus sign next to "Enter contact name" and check all contacts. Then tap Done and then tap Create. Note: Only contacts with your number in their phone book will later receive messages via the broadcast list.
- After you have created the list, the chat window for the broadcast opens. Touch "Messages" at the top, you can edit the list name and add or delete contacts.
Alternatively, you can use group chat in WhatsApp. We will show you how to create a WhatsApp group in the next practical tip.
