Become a WhatsApp beta tester with Android smartphone
The messenger app WhatsApp keeps surprising with new features: Video telephony was recently introduced and now lets you communicate with your loved ones via video. You can get updates like this sooner by becoming a WhatsApp beta tester. To get these privileges, follow these steps:
- First, visit the WhatsApp beta page in the Google Play Store.
- Then simply click on "Become a Tester". If you are already logged in to Google, your participation in the tester program will be confirmed directly. Otherwise you must first log in with your Google account. It is important that it is the same account as on your Android smartphone.
- The new beta version of WhatsApp will then be downloaded to your device shortly. However, Google and WhatsApp point out that the beta versions can contain bugs and may run unstably.
- You can also exit the beta program via the same link by clicking on "Exit program".
Windows Phone: How to become a WhatsApp beta tester
While you can also participate in the WhatsApp beta program as a Windows Phone owner, iOS users unfortunately do not have the option and have to wait for official updates. Windows Phone users have it just as easy as with Android:
- If you have a Windows Phone, all you have to do is download the WhatsApp Beta app from the Microsoft Store.

- If you no longer wish to participate in the beta program, simply uninstall the app.
