WhatsApp is not sending - what can I do?
If WhatsApp no longer sends messages, this can have various causes. In the following practical tip, we will show you what it can be.
Update: WhatsApp is not sending - current error
WhatsApp currently seems to have a technical problem.
- Many users report that WhatsApp cannot send or receive messages.
- At the moment there is nothing you can do but wait until WhatsApp has fixed the problem.
When WhatsApp stops sending messages ...
Check the following checklist if your messages are not sent and you only see a small clock instead of the checkmark for the confirmation of receipt:
- Is your mobile data connection switched on if you are not in the WiFi network? How good is the data connection? With one or two bars, the message transmission can take a little longer.
- If you are logged in via WLAN, check whether you have access to websites. If, for example, this is not possible with the PC (or even the browser on the smartphone), the problem is probably due to your WLAN internet connection.
- Are other services running in the background? If you download or upload data in parallel, for example, the connection may be overloaded and the sending may be delayed. If you are sending a larger file yourself via WhatsApp, this may also take a while.
- The problem can also be with WhatsApp itself if the servers are overloaded. You will usually find out about malfunctions promptly from relevant tech magazines.
- An overload of the respective mobile phone provider can also be responsible for the transmission difficulties of WhatsApp messages. You cannot change this, but you can contact your mobile operator to find out whether there is a problem.
- If you have been blocked by a contact, only a checkmark appears. However, your message will not be sent to the contact.
- In some cases, an outdated version of WhatsApp can also cause the problem. To rule this out, open the Google Play Store and install any updates to WhatsApp under "My Apps".
