Since Android Nougat, the Google operating system has also mastered shortcuts, which are known as a 3D touch in Apple iOS.
- A long press on the icon of compatible apps opens a quick start menu so that individual components of the apps can be called up without starting the app itself.
- For example, the subscription list can be called up directly on YouTube, a tweet or a personal message can be sent directly on Twitter. Spotify also supports the function, but it is only possible to make a search query.

The highlight of Android's implementation: No special hardware, as with Apple, is necessary to enjoy the shortcuts.
- Instead, the installation of Android 7.1 is sufficient, the Pixel Launcher or another compatible launcher on the smartphone must also be used.
- In addition to the latest Android operating system, you must also install at least the latest WhatsApp beta version from 07/26/17.
- Register the latest Google Play Store for the WhatsApp beta program so that the most up-to-date pre-release version is available by default.

Use WhatsApp Shortcut on Android - the use
- After installing the beta version, you can use the shortcuts directly. As a participant of the WhatsApp beta program via the Play Store, this is initially only possible in English.
- You can choose between opening the "camera", starting a "new chat" and displaying the "pinned messages" in the shortcut.
- Under "Icon options" or by moving the app you can access the previous options such as "Uninstall" or "App info".
