WhatsApp Sim is a new prepaid tariff from Telefonica. This practical tip shows you what the tariff offers, what costs are incurred and how you can top up your credit again.
WhatsApp Sim: costs and information
The WhatsApp Sim is primarily aimed at users who use WhatsApp regularly and intensively. The use of WhatsApp is namely completely free.
- The WhatsApp Sim is calculated in units, whereby a unit can either be 1 MByte data volume, 1 minute on the phone or 1 SMS.
- The WhatsApp Sim normally costs ten euros to buy. As starting credit you will receive 5 euros and the highest tariff WhatsAll 3, 000.
- Each tariff runs for 4 weeks. If you have enough credit on the card, the tariff will be extended. If there is no credit on the card, the tariff ends. If you wish, you can also deselect the tariff yourself and reactivate it if necessary.
- With the WhatsApp Sim you can surf and make calls on the Telefonica network. Depending on availability, your cell phone automatically switches between the O2 or E-Plus network.
- Important: In order for the WhatsApp Sim to remain active, you have to top up at least 5 euros every 6 months. Otherwise the SIM card will be blocked.
WhatsApp Sim: conditions and tariff options
WhatsApp SIM has three tariffs. The basic tariff, WhatsAll 600 and WhatsAll 3000.
- The number stands for the available units. One unit corresponds to an MB of data volume, an SMS or a minute call to a landline or mobile network.
- No high-speed internet is available for the basic tariff and you pay per minute for calls or 9 cents per SMS. You can use WhatsApp indefinitely. No fees are due here.
- WhatsAll 600 has 600 units available for 4 weeks. How you divide up the units is entirely up to you. Here you also have high-speed Internet (LTE). Here 4 weeks cost 5 euros.
- WhatsAll 3000 costs 10 euros for 4 weeks, you can access 3, 000 units.
- If you have used up your units, you can continue to use data volume for WhatsApp. No data volume is calculated within the app.
Charge WhatsApp Sim: You have these options
There are several ways to top up your WhatsApp Sim credit.
- Credit card: As for other prepaid cards, you can also purchase classic credit cards for the WhatsApp Sim in stores. To recharge, enter * 104 * recharge number # “on the keyboard and press the call key. The amount will be credited immediately.
- Online or via app: In order to top up your credit online or via app, you have to enter your bank details once. You can then log in either on the online customer portal or in the app on your smartphone and select the menu item "Top up credit". The amount will be credited immediately and later debited from your account by direct debit.
- SMS: If you have stored your bank details, you can also charge the WhatsApp Sim by SMS. To do this, send "Top up" to the number 25000. Before that, however, you must have set a top up amount online.
- Automatic top-up: You have the option of specifying a certain credit balance and automatic top-up if this amount is undershot. Alternatively, you can also choose a date on which your prepaid card is topped up monthly for the amount specified in advance.
- Bank transfer: If you want to top up your credit via bank transfer, send the keyword "Bank transfer" to number 56656. You will then receive the necessary information for the bank transfer, such as the purpose and bank details. The minimum amount is 15 euros and it takes a few days for the amount to be credited.
- ATM: You can top up your credit via an ATM if you select the "Top up mobile phone" function and then select O2 or e-plus as the mobile operator. Then enter your PIN and your phone number twice. Then you can choose an amount to top up. You will then receive a confirmation via SMS.
