WhatsApp: Send voice messages - how it works
You can also send voice messages via WhatsApp. We show you how easy it is in this practical tip.
Send voice message via WhatsApp
- Start WhatsApp and go to the contact you want to send a voice memo to.
- Next to the input field for your written message you will find a microphone symbol (see picture).
- Press and hold this icon and speak the message you want to send.
- When you release the microphone, recording stops and your voice message is automatically sent to the contact.
- If you make a promise or another mishap happens to you, abort the recording with a swipe to the left.
Use WhatsApp recorder for voice messages
If you use the standard method described, there are some disadvantages. You can no longer listen to the message before sending it and must press and hold the button. WhatsApp already offers an improved voice recorder, but it is somewhat hidden.
- For the improved recorder, tap the paper clip icon next to the text box and select "Audio".
- If necessary, press "Record with WhatsApp".
- You will now see the new recorder (see picture), with which you only have to press Record once and can listen to the message again before sending it.
- Tip: The messages with this variant can be up to 15 minutes long and you can also switch to another app without interrupting the recording.
