If you look at the two messengers, there is no big difference at first. Both WhatsApp and Bleep have a similar structure and are very easy to use.
- However, WhatsApp has a noticeable head start. At Bleep, you currently have to do without small gimmicks such as personalized chat backgrounds and status messages.
- But quite important functions are not yet available in Bleep. For example, you cannot block people, create group chats, or send locations, contacts, and voice messages.
- Bleep plugs these holes with a secret chat and a simple connection: Friends can be added via email address, telephone number, text code or QR code.

- Privacy advocates continue to warn against the use of WhatsApp. The type of encryption is not publicly viewable and is considered unsafe by experts. While the competition is much safer, WhatsApp is still working on new encryption.
- If you attach great importance to the security of your data, Bleep offers you exactly what you need. The messenger does not send the messages via a central server, but uses a peer-to-peer network like BitTorrent.
- A direct connection is established between the two chat partners. This connection is additionally provided with end-to-end encryption, which is considered to be very secure.
- In every chat you will find the "Go to Whisper" button below. Here you can open a second, secret chat with each contact. Write a message and if it is read, it disappears from the chat history after about 15 seconds.
WhatsApp vs. Bleep - availability and costs
- BitTorrent Bleep is completely free. You can currently get the secure messenger as a smartphone app for iOS and Android and as software for Windows and Mac.
- WhatsApp is also available for free, but only for the first year. The messenger charges 89 cents for each additional year. WhatsApp is also available as an app for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Blackberry and Nokia, and as a browser version.
WhatsApp and Bleep in the showdown - who will win the duel?
- In contrast to WhatsApp, you can communicate with Bleep completely anonymously. Instead of a cell phone number, you can also choose an email address or just any username.
- At the moment WhatsApp can convince with some additional features. However, Bleep already offers a private and secure chat and will certainly upgrade the missing functions.
- At the moment, however, you are still spoiled for choice between a really very secure messenger and the messenger that almost everyone owns. Bleep will not replace WhatsApp, but it is already a serious alternative.
