WhatsApp widget: read messages on homescreen
You can read all incoming WhatsApp messages directly on your home screen using a widget. We'll tell you how to activate the useful feature on Android. Unfortunately, there is currently no similar function for iPhone users.
Android: WhatsApp via widget on the home screen
The WhatsApp homescreen widget is useful in several ways: First, you can use it to read all new messages without opening the app. On the other hand, this means that no blue ticks appear on the person opposite you.
- To activate the feature, you have to open the widget menu of your smartphone. This works differently from manufacturer to manufacturer. Most of the time you have to press an empty spot on your home screen for a few seconds or press the menu button on your mobile phone.
- You will then find the "WhatsApp" entry in the "Widgets" section.
- Tap the widget and then drag it to the desired location on your home screen.
- On many smartphones, you can scale the widget by dragging the points on the frame.
Tip: iOS users cannot use a widget, but the blue ticks in WhatsApp can still be deactivated.
