In this practical tip, we will show you how to reduce the size of a video that is too large for WhatsApp.
WhatsApp: Reduce the size of the video - so it'll work
There are basically two ways to shrink a video file. Either shorten the file and cut out unimportant scenes or compress the video. With the free VidTrim app you can both shorten and compress videos. You do this as follows:
- Open the app and select the video you want from the list.
- To shorten the video, click on "Trim". There are two sliders below the video. With the left you determine the starting point and with the right slider the end of the video. When you have selected the desired area, press the scissors in the menu bar. At the end you can choose whether you want to replace the video clip or whether you want to save the section as a new video.
- To compress a video, select "Transcode". Under the "Video Size" option, all common video resolutions are available. To make the video smaller, we recommend that you select "MEDIUM" or "LOW" under the "Video Quality" tab. Finally, all you have to do is click on the two gears in the menu bar at the top.
