How do I activate the number pad?
On many computers, the number pad must be reactivated each time the system is started. All you have to do is press the "Num" button above the number pad. You can find out here how the number pad is always activated.
Activate the number pad under Windows
To activate the number pad permanently, all you need to do is make a small intervention in the registry:
- Press the "Windows" key and "R" at the same time.
- Enter "regedit" there, click "OK" and confirm the following security question with "Yes".
- Click on the arrow in front of "HKEY_CURRENT_USER". Then do the same for the "Control Panel" and "Keyboard" folders (see image).
- Double-click on the "InitialKeyboardIndicators" file.
- Then set the value to "2" and click "OK". After the next restart, the number pad is activated automatically.
With the numeric keypad, many special characters can be entered simply using a key combination. You can find out how to do this here.
