On many websites the message appears that you have to activate Javascript. We'll tell you what Javascript is all about and how to turn it on in your browser.
What is Javascript?
- Javascript is a programming language. It is used to execute complex program sequences in a website. This function should already be activated in your browser by default.
- A standard website consists of an HTML core. If websites are expanded with Javascript, dynamic content can be used on them, for example animations. Javascript also allows websites to adapt to their users.
- Only certain parts can be reloaded on websites. Online shops in particular can no longer do without this technology. For this reason alone, you should activate Javascript. But also so that other web content is displayed correctly and works as it should.

- Click on the menu button in the top right of the browser and select the "Settings" below.
- Scroll down and click "Advanced".
- Scroll down and click on "Website Settings".
- Scroll down and click on "Privacy and Security".
- Scroll down and choose "Javascript".
- Under the "Javascript" item, move the "Allowed (recommended)" slider to the right.
- Javascript is now enabled for Google Chrome. You can leave the settings without having to do anything.
Internet Explorer: activate Javascript
- Click the gear icon at the top right of the browser and select "Internet Options" from the menu.
- Select the "Security" tab. Select "Internet" and then click on "Adjust level".
- A new window will open. Scroll down the list to the point "Scripting". For "Active scripting" and "Scripting Java applets", click on "Activate".
- Then click the "OK" button and "OK" again. Javascript has now been activated in your Internet Explorer.
Firefox: Activate Javascript
- Open Firefox and type "about: config" in the address field. Then press Enter.
- If a warning message appears, click on "I am aware of the dangers".
- Type "javascript.enabled" in the search field.
- To activate Javascript, you can either click "false" twice. Or you can click the right mouse button on "false" and select "Toggle".
- As soon as "true" appears instead of "false", Javascript has been activated. It may be necessary to reload the page for "true" to appear.
Safari: Activate Javascript
- Click the gear icon in the top right of the browser and select "Settings" from the menu.
- Select "Security" and click on "Enable JavaScript".
- Javascript is now enabled for Safari. You can leave the settings without having to do anything.
