How old is my laptop Especially if you bought a used computer, that's an interesting question. We show two methods that you can use to quickly find out the age of your laptop.
Read the date of manufacture of the laptop from the stickers
- The easiest way to find out the age of a laptop is through the labels on the bottom of the device. The date of manufacture is printed there in many cases (see picture).
- The labels are designed differently depending on the manufacturer and model. You can usually find the year and month of manufacture below the model number.
Find out the operating system installation date in Windows
If you have not installed another operating system version on your laptop, you can also determine the age internally using the software. With a Windows computer, proceed as follows:
- Press the key combination [Win] + [R].
- Type "cmd" in the text box and press "OK" to open the command prompt.
- Type in "systeminfo" here and press [Enter]. The computer then retrieves a lot of information about your system.
- When all the results are listed, search for "Original installation date" (see screenshot).
- In newer versions of Windows, however, this is the date of the last major update. The specification can only be correct for older versions of Windows.
