How do I create a PDF from an OpenOffice file?
Open Office makes it incredibly easy for you to create PDF files. You can do this yourself via OpenOffice or install a PDF printer - here we explain both options.
Create PDF in OpenOffice - short
Do you simply want to create a PDF document from an OpenOffice document without making any further settings? Then do the following:
- At the top of the button, click the "Direct Export As PDF" icon next to the print icon.
- Select the target folder and a file name and click on "Save".
Create PDF in OpenOffice - with additional settings
If you want to transfer some additional settings or comments from your OpenOffice file to the PDF, simply click on "File" in the top left and then on "Export as PDF ...".
- In the following dialog window you can still make some settings - for example, whether images should be reduced or comments should also be exported. Make sure that the option "Create PDF form" is activated.
- Click on "Export".
- Select the target folder and a file name and click on "Save".
Generate PDF with a PDF printer
There is also the option of installing a PDF printer, which you can simply select from the print menu and which then creates a PDF document for you. This also works with older versions of Office, for example, since your computer recognizes the PDF printer as a printer. A popular program is the "Bullzip PDF Printer". You don't know about it? No problem, we also have a clear step-by-step explanation for you!
The tips work from Apache OpenOffice 3.3. In previous versions, you may have to do it differently. In this case, a PDF printer will definitely help you.
