How does Audible work? Easily explained
At Audible you can choose from thousands of audiobooks and download them to your computer, tablet or smartphone. We show you how this works in this article.
How does Audible work?
To be able to use Audible, you must first register. It works with an Amazon account because the two companies belong together.
- If you have successfully registered, you can choose a title from the offer and buy it. An overview of the prices can be found in the next paragraph.
- After you buy an audiobook, download it. For this you need a special program, the Audible DownloadManager, which you can download directly from Audible.
- You can then burn the downloaded file to a CD, transfer it to an MP3 player or a smartphone, or listen to it directly on your PC. To do this, select the device on the DownloadManager on which you want to play the audiobook.
- You can also download the purchased audiobook directly to your smartphone using the Audible app for iOS, Android and Windows Phone.
- However, please note that you can only use the downloaded audiobook on three devices at the same time and can only burn it to CD once.
- If you don't like an audiobook, you can return it and get your money back.
Audible: what are the costs?
- Audible offers audiobooks as individual downloads at prices that are usually below the price of the CDs.
- Alternatively, you can take out a subscription. You pay EUR 9.95 a month and receive one audio book per month free of charge.
- The first 30 days of the subscription are free and you can cancel at any time.
- If you don't choose an audiobook in a month, you can download two in the next month.
- If you cancel your subscription, you can continue to use the audiobooks you have already purchased and download them again.
