How does dual SIM work? Easily explained
In the meantime, more and more smartphones with dual SIM are appearing. We'll show you what exactly is dual SIM and how a smartphone works with it.
What can dual SIM smartphones do?
- With a dual SIM smartphone, you can use two SIM cards in one smartphone. This can have various advantages. As a rule, however, only one SIM card is actively used.
- Dual SIM smartphones can accommodate two SIM cards. You can switch between the two SIM cards on your smartphone as required. A manual exchange of the cards is therefore not necessary.
- Most dual SIM smartphones can only operate one SIM card at a time. A few smartphones are equipped with two transmitter and receiver units, so that both SIM cards are active at the same time and can take calls.
Dual SIM: What does it do?
- Business: If you have a private SIM card and a business SIM card, you don't need two mobile phones. With a dual SIM smartphone, you can simply switch to your private SIM card after work or during lunch break.
- Abroad: If you are often abroad, a second SIM card with a cheaper tariff may be worthwhile. So you can also make cheap calls abroad.
- Tariffs: Under certain circumstances it can also be worthwhile privately to use two tariffs. For example, if you have a SIM card from Telekom with which you can surf cheaply and quickly, and a SIM card from Vodafone with which you can make free calls, you can easily combine these two tariffs.
