How do I change quotation marks in Word?
You can change the quotation marks in MS Office Word. We show you how to do this in our tip.
Quotation marks change in Word
Quotation marks, or colloquially "goose feet", can be found in many languages. However, they are set differently. Word recognizes the language used on your computer and automatically sets up the characters. If you switch off this auto-correction function and only want the quotation marks at the top, Proceed as follows:
- Start Word and switch to the "File" tab.
- Select the "Options" item.
- In the left column of the window that opens, click on "Document Review".
- Open the next window by selecting "AutoCorrect Options". There you select the tab "AutoFormat while typing".
- Remove the checkmark at "Straight" quotes with "typographic". With this change, the characters in your texts are only placed at the top.
We used Microsoft Word 2010 in our test. A different version may have different procedures.
