How do I change icons on Android?
Unfortunately, the app icons cannot be changed on many pre-installed Android launchers. However, by installing an alternative launcher, you can make changes to the icons. We'll show you how it's done.
Android: Change app icons with alternative launcher
- A common launcher that supports icon packs is the Nova Launcher. Download the free version from the Google Play Store.
- Also install an icon pack from the Google Play Store. Here, for example, the MIUI X4 Pack with iOS look is ideal.
- Once you have installed the applications, search for the "Nova Settings" in the App Drawer and open them.
- Tap on the "Appearance" item and then on the "Icon theme". Select the desired icon pack here.
- The launcher then restarts and all apps have the icons from the selected pack.
Android: Customize app icons
- Alternatively, you can also change individual app icons on Android. To do this, press and hold a desired icon.
- Select the "Edit" option above and then tap on the displayed icon.
- Now you can select an image or an icon from an icon pack and set it as a new icon.
Android: Change icons with the desktop visualizer
- If you want to completely design or adapt your icons yourself, the Desktop Visualizer will help you.
- Here you can even turn your own photos into app icons and customize the homescreen background.
