Wii: Register remote control

Do you have a new Wii and want to register more than one Wii Remote - also known as Wiimote? Then with standard and one-time registration you have two options to connect the Wii Remotes to the console. We explain how to do it.
With the standard registration, you can register remote controls permanently on your Wii
If you want to connect your own second Wiimote to your Wii, you should opt for standard registration. It not only couples the remote control permanently to your console, but also goes quickly by hand. After registration, you can start the Wii directly with the remote control.
- If necessary, remove the protective cover from the Wiimote so that you can easily open the battery compartment on the back of the remote control.
- Remove the cover of the battery compartment. Make sure that the remote control contains charged batteries or rechargeable batteries and works.
- Open the cover of the SD card slot on the front of the Wii console.
- Press the POWER button on the Wii console and switch it on.
- Briefly press the red SYNCHRO button on the console on the left or above the SD card slot - depending on whether your Wii console is lying or standing. Then briefly press the red button in the battery compartment of the Wiimote.
- The Wiimote's LEDs flash during the registration process. If the synchronization was successful, only one LED lights up and shows the number of the remote control and thus the position of the player. These seats are distributed according to the registration order and dictate the order in multiplayer games. Repeat the process for up to four Wiimotes.
- Close the battery compartment and, if necessary, pull the protective cover back into place. The Wiimote is now connected to your console.
With the one-time registration you temporarily synchronize Wiimotes with your Wii
For example, if you only borrow Wii remotes from friends and return them after a single use, it can be worthwhile to register them in a special way. This registration has the advantage that the data of the main console is not deleted. Such a Wiimote only works on the console until it is switched off. Accordingly, you cannot use a single-use remote control to switch on the console.
- Turn on your Wii console using a regularly registered Wiimote or the POWER button.
- Press the HOME button on a regularly registered Wii remote control.
- In the home menu that appears, select the "Wii FB Settings" item.
- Click on the "Register New" button.
- Follow the display on the screen and simultaneously press the "1" and "2" buttons on the Wiimote that you want to temporarily synchronize. Keep the buttons pressed until the LEDs stop flashing and a player lamp lights up constantly. Repeat the process for other remote controls that you want to register temporarily.
- The glowing number shows the player position in multiplayer games and is assigned according to the registration order - regardless of whether a Wiimote is registered permanently or once.
