The resolution of the Wii U depends largely on your TV. You can easily change / increase the settings yourself and play Wii U in a particularly high resolution.
Wii U: set resolution
Depending on the TV you use for your game console, there are different resolutions available:
- Basically you can use the setting 50 Hz (576i) for all TV sets. In this case, you do not need a special connection cable for the Wii U.
- For the EDTV / HDTV (480p) resolution you need an EDTV or HDTV-compatible television. You also need a component cable to connect the two devices.
- If your television is NTSC-capable, you can also select the resolution 60 Hz (480i). In this case, a simple connection cable is sufficient.
Wii U resolution: Step 2
- After confirming the mode selection, align the aspect ratio. To do this, select the option of the same name on the television.
- The ratio is 4: 3 or 16: 9. You end your choice by clicking on "Confirm".
- Finally, align the image by first clicking on "Image Position" in the menu.
- Use the two arrows to set up the picture of your Wii U on the television and finish setting the resolution by clicking on "Confirm".
- Note: The bigger the TV, the worse the picture. From a certain size, new settings also bring no improvement. The graphics of the Wii U are simply not made for huge screens ...
