Wii U: Activate automatic software updates
The Wii U also supports automatic software updates. We'll show you how to enable the option so you won't have to wait long for updates before playing.
Enable automatic software updates on the Wii U.
- Open the system settings of your Wii U.
- Select the tenth menu item "Energy options".
- Under "Standby operations", choose the option "Yes" so that your Wii U can download updates even in standby mode. Then return to the main menu.
- Press the home button in the main menu to open the menu and open the "Download management".
- Here you will find a wrench symbol next to "Current status", which will take you to a submenu.
- Check the "Enable Downloads" option to have your Wii U automatically check for software updates and download them.
- With "Find software updates" you can of course continue to check whether new software updates or downloads are available.
As soon as your Wii U has downloaded the update, you can start: Read on the next page how to install the software update on the Wii U.
