Wii U does not recognize gamepad - what to do?
If your Wii U's gamepad is not recognized, this can have several reasons. We will show you how to solve the problem with the gamepad.
Wii U doesn't recognize gamepad - that's why
- Check the battery level of the gamepad. Connect the device to the power supply and charge it.
- Switch the console off completely, pull out the power plug and reconnect it after about 10 seconds.
- Press and hold the power button on the console for about 10 seconds. This will cause a small reset.
- Make sure that there are no other radio devices in the vicinity of the console and gamepad. These include DECT phones, routers or smartphones in the immediate vicinity.
Connect the gamepad correctly to the Wii U.
The gamepad should be very close to the console, at least to set up the connection. You can then use the gamepad to move further away.
- Turn on the gamepad and console and briefly press the sync button on the console.
- Remove the stylus from the gamepad and insert it briefly into the sync button on the back of the gamepad.
- Four symbols now appear on the TV. Enter these on the gamepad as well.
- After a short wait, the gamepad is connected to the Wii U.
