If you want to record a "Let's Play" your Wii U for YouTube or other platforms, you need additional devices and programs. In this practical tip, we explain step by step what you exactly need and how exactly the gameplay recording works.
Record gameplay on the Wii U - you need it
- The first thing you need is a computer or laptop with which you can edit the recorded video and upload it if necessary.
- In order to record the videos, you need a game recorder, for example this one on Amazon.
- You need the appropriate software for the corresponding recorder to record and access the videos. You can find this either in the scope of delivery or on the manufacturer's website.
- If you want to comment on the recording, you also need an external microphone or headset.
Wii U: Gameplay recording - how it works
- Connect the game recorder to the TV and the console.
- Then you have to connect the game recorder via USB to your PC or laptop so that you have access to the videos.
- If you have a headset, simply connect it to your PC via the audio jacks or USB.
- Now start the supplied software on the PC and the console.
- In the software, you can start and stop recording with a click of a button or button as soon as you are done.
Some programs offer you the possibility to edit the recorded video directly in the program. If this is not the case, you can save the video on your computer via "File"> "Publish" or "Save" and then edit it in a video editing program such as Windows Movie Maker or Sony Vegas Pro.
