WiMP vs. Spotify: music streaming in comparison
WiMP vs. Spotify: Both services promise good music streaming. We compare the two services.
WiMP: Better music quality than Spotify
- Offer: WiMP currently offers around 25 million songs for streaming. A very rich offer from many different genres.
- Costs: WiMP offers three subscription models. For 4.99 euros per month you get the basic service from WiMP with sufficient functions (see screenshot). For 9.99 euros there is WiMP Premium, here you will find a few more functions. For 19.99 euros you can stream the music in top quality.
- Sound quality: Depending on the subscription model, WiMP offers a different sound quality. This ranges from an acceptable 128 kbps to the usual top quality of 360 kbps to 700-900 kbps. In this case, you stream the music in lossless quality. However, only true music connoisseurs usually hear the difference.
- Functions: Among other things, WiMP like Spotify offers an offline function as well as an additional son detection. Especially those who are a little more interested in music are well served by the WiMP editorial team. News and videos as well as recommendations for new songs appear daily.
- Conclusion: If you are very busy with music and want to learn more about songs and artists or if you want to stream your music in lossless quality, WiMP is definitely worth a try. The price of the basic subscription is unbeatable for 4.99 euros per month.
Spotify: Also a good streaming service for music for free
- Offer: Spotify currently has 20 million songs on offer. Since around 4 million of these songs have not yet been played, you should also find enough selection here.
- Costs: Spotify Premium costs 9.99 euros per month, for students only 4.99 euros. With a free account, advertising is brought in approximately every 15 minutes.
- Sound quality: With Spotify Premium you can stream your music in good quality at 320 kbps. In the free version, your songs are played at only 160 kbps, not exactly the best quality for music lovers.
- Features: As with WiMP, you can collect, sort and download your favorite music in your own playlists and download it for offline access. Since Spotify has many users, you can often find your friends' playlists. You can also display lyrics on the PC (see video).
- Conclusion: If you don't want to pay money for your music, Spotify is the right place for you. All you have to do is tolerate the somewhat reduced quality and advertisements. With Spotify Premium you can stream unlimited music in good quality.
