Winamp: Export playlist - how it works
You can easily save or export playlists created in Winamp and thus transfer them to another PC or MP3 player. We'll show you how it works.
How to export a Winamp playlist
If you want to open a playlist created with Winamp in another program, it is sufficient to save it. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Open the playlist in Winamp and make sure it's selected. To do this, start a song from the list, for example.
- In the Winamp menu bar, click on "File" and then on "Save playlist" (alternatively Ctrl + S).
- Now enter the path where the playlist should be saved. Also, set a file name and choose the preferred file type. You can choose between M3U, PLS and M3U8 (Unicode). Finally click on the save button.
Export Winamp playlist with music files
Alternatively, you can use the freeware "AmoK Playlist Copy" to export your Winamp playlist. The tool can even copy your playlist to another location along with the actual music files.
- Download "AmoK Playlist Copy" and unzip or install the tool.
- Start the software and make sure that Winamp is also open in the background and the correct playlist is selected.
- In the AmoK Playlist Copy menu bar, click on "Add" and then "Import playlist from the currently active Winamp". You can also select a playlist on your hard drive via "Add playlist".
- Change the order of the songs or remove individual tracks if you want to.
- Now select "Copy" in the menu bar and then select the desired output options. Via "Copy files & playlist" you can export your MP3 files together with a new playlist to any directory.
To play your music in Winamp without annoying pauses, you can activate the crossfading function. Read what you need to do on the next page.
