If you work with many windows at the same time in Windows 10, it is practically possible to close them all at once. In this article, we will tell you which tricks that works.
Windows 10: Close all windows with a key combination
Windows 10 has countless keyboard shortcuts that you can use to control your system. There is no special shortcut that can be used to close all windows at once, but you can use a different key combination for other purposes.
- If you press the [Alt] and [F4] keys simultaneously, the current window closes. Keep the two buttons pressed until all windows are closed.
- Tip: If you want to call up your windows again later, you should only minimize them. This works with the key combination [Windows] + [D]. If you press the two buttons again, all windows appear again in the previous arrangement.
Windows 10: Close all program windows via the task bar
You can also close several program windows at once using the Windows taskbar. However, this only works with the windows of the same tool.
- Move the mouse over the program icon in the Windows task bar.
- Then right-click on the program icon.
- In the context menu, select the entry "Close all windows".
- Repeat these steps for all other open programs.
Windows 10: Exit all programs with a tool
If the detours via the key combinations and the task bar are not enough for you, you have to resort to a special program. This closes all windows with just one click.
- Download the free system program CloseAll and unzip the archive anywhere.
- Then start the "CloseAll.exe" file and put a tick in the program window for all the tools you want to close.
- Finally confirm your selection with "OK". "CloseAll" closes all open windows.
